/*Webinar -- Disaster Mental Health Assistance in Public Health
Emergencies: Evidence-Informed Practices for Public Health*/

The New York-New Jersey Preparedness and Emergency Response Learning
Center (NY-NJ PERLC), a collaboration of the University at Albany SUNY
Schools of Public Health and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of
New Jersey, will host a live webinar on /Disaster Mental Health
Assistance in Public Health Emergencies: Evidence-Informed Practices for
Public Health Workers/ at *2 p.m.* EDT on *September 27*.

The purpose of the free webcast is to strengthen local health
departments’ capacity to respond to the mental health needs of
individuals and staff impacted by disasters and public health
emergencies. Research has shown that psychological causalities can far
outweigh physical injuries in a disaster. Attendees can expect an
overview of disaster mental health and an evidence-based toolkit of
resources to help local public health professionals manage the
behavioral needs of victims, staff, and area residents responding to and
recovering from a disaster.

To obtain more information, or to register, visit:

NY-NJ PERLC has developed a Disaster Mental Health Assistance Toolkit
that they will review during this webinar. You can download it at
http://www.albany.edu/sph/images/IDMH_Toolkit.pdf and it has been added
to the Resource Guide for Disaster Medicine and Public Health. You can
see the latest additions to the Resource Guide at http://go.usa.gov/mBs
