Course Description: The major goal of this course is to demonstrate how a
Hospital Library's value within its institution can be achieved not only by
Joint Commission validation, but also through other accreditation bodies as
well as solid customer service. Hospital librarians need to be armed with
the knowledge that it will take more than the Information Management portion
of JC's Standards to survive. They need to know that Library services can
also be used to support many more of the Standards as well as other
accreditation bodies. Additionally, Librarians need to learn how to think
outside the "JC" box in order to validate their worth.
