The MSKCC Library is rapidly evolving to a state-of-the-art facility and virtual library to support physicians, health care professionals, researchers and students. Only those candidates who embrace a challenging environment and can support their team members who often work under pressure and tight deadlines need apply.
Responsibilities
In this position the successful candidate will:
* Provide personalized, on-site information services to their assigned research or clinical team and function as their team's point of contact for library services. Will work within the client's environment to better understand their activities; conducts ongoing needs assessment in order to develop new and innovative services. Establish and maintain relationships, and work closely with these individuals to determine relevant content, interfaces, and training initiatives to support research and clinical workflow.
* Proactively support our users via client consultation to answer research and information questions, customized teaching and on-the-spot training, conduct database searches on specific topics and areas of interest for our users and set-up current alerts.
* Conduct effective reference transactions in an online environment, including the creation and use of pre-scripted messages. Support consultation services in the Main Library, Rockefeller Research Laboratories (RRL) Building and the CyberLibrary Café located in the Zuckerman Research Center.
* Develop interactive web-based learning modules and is capable of supporting a variety of virtual information resources including web site content, web-based tutorials, and Web 2.0 technologies. Proactively initiate training in a variety of formats and understand how to develop and implement a successful blended learning strategy.
Qualifications
* Master 's degree in Library Science or related degree required.
* Undergraduate degree in the Life Sciences preferred.
* Five years Library experience in Reference services in a professional position.
* Clinical medical librarian experience or related-work experience in a health sciences environment.
* Proven record of success in applying effective teaching strategies and technologies to deliver information services to healthcare professionals, students, and administrators. Experience instructing adult learners and skilled in using web technologies to organize, filter, and evaluate information.
* Personal computer proficiency including expertise in Microsoft office, the Internet, and relevant online scientific and medical bibliographic databases.
* Knowledge of the application of evidence-based practice resources in a clinical setting.
* Demonstrate a strong background in the use of information management tools, and analytical and searching skills.
Work week: 37.5 hrs
Library Hours of Operation: 8:00am to 7:00pm, Monday - Friday
