Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Four years of directly related 
full time experience or a combination of education and/or experience 
totaling four years may be considered in lieu of a degree. Prior 
experience with computers, Windows operating system, business desktop 
applications, and Internet applications, such as email, web browsers, and 
search engines. Prior supervisory experience, and excellent interpersonal, 
organizational and communications skills. Prior customer service 
experience. Two years of full time related experience with a library 
automated system and OPAC. The ability to identify, analyze and resolve 
problems, as well as the technical skills necessary to fulfill these 
tasks. 

Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in an academic library 
environment. Access Services/Circulation experience, as well as prior 
experience with ILL processing software. 

Brief Description of Duties: The basic purpose of this position is to 
provide leadership and supervision for all operational aspects of the 
library’s circulation desk, course reserves, electronic reserves, 
interlibrary loan and document delivery services. This position will 
provide leadership to the Access Services department which sets the 
standard for public services in the library. This includes planning, 
coordinating, developing, interpreting, and implementing policies and 
procedures for all access services operations, as well as promoting 
quality library services, compiling statistics and generating reports. The 
incumbent needs to learn, understand, and troubleshoot the software used 
in the department.
Administration: Trains, supervises, and evaluates access services staff. 
Prepares compiles, develops, and keeps appropriate statistical reports and 
other documentation. Develops job descriptions, training, and orientation 
for new departmental employees. Assists in the review, development and 
implementation of library policies and procedures. Coordinates and 
oversees access services staff development and training. Creates and 
maintains departmental documentation and manuals. 
Circulation and Reserves: Supervises and ensures smooth operation of the 
circulation desk. Establishes circulation desk staff hours and ensures 
sufficient staffing during library hours. Manages the circulation module 
and other aspects of the online library Aleph system. Troubleshoots and 
reports any problems. Develops implements and maintains electronic reserve 
system. Conducts and coordinates stack maintenance. Plans and supervises 
shifting and reorganization projects. Creates and maintains circulation 
and reserves documentation and manuals. Conducts staff training for 
circulation and reserves. Develops and implements circulation, reserves 
and e-reserves policies and procedures. Compiles and maintains statistical 
reports. 
Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery: Supervises interlibrary loan 
service. Oversees and develops document delivery and other new services as 
needed. Manages the ILLiad interlibrary loan system. Oversees the 
maintenance and functionality of ILLiad processing system and 
troubleshoots and reports any problems. Compiles and maintains statistical 
reports. Develops and implements interlibrary loan and document delivery 
policies and procedures. Creates and maintains interlibrary loan and 
document delivery documentation and manuals. Conducts staff training for 
interlibrary loan and document delivery. 
Equipment Maintenance and Training: Monitors the copying/printing machines 
and other library equipment, and coordinates with the IT department and 
outside vendors for repair/service as needed. Provides training or 
assistance to users and employees with regard to the equipment. 
Maintains technical competency and skills in order to adapt as automation 
evolves. Participates in department, University and SUNY-wide committees, 
events, and professional organizations.

Special Notes: This is a full time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not 
eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external 
search to occur simultaneously.

Salary: $40, 000 - $45, 000
