The Coles  Science Center is seeking a Reference Associate to play a key role in the development and implementation of emerging practices and participate in instructional services for library patrons. Reporting to the Head of Science Reference, this position will work closely with the librarians in providing instructional services in the sciences; provide a variety of reference and research services to library patrons in person and remotely; and conduct library tours, basic information literacy classes, and term paper clinics for students. In addition, you will assist with content development and maintenance of Science unit web sites and participate in Science unit projects and strategic planning initiatives.

Qualifications:   To qualify, you must possess a Bachelor's degree in science or a related field. Excellent interpersonal, research and oral and written communication skills; the ability to interact with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff and patrons; and library public service work experience or the equivalent are essential for this position. You must also be familiar with standard office software and HTML. The preferred candidate will have an advanced degree in a science, health science or related field and two years' experience in reference or bibliographic instruction in an academic library. Knowledge of online research resources and databases, familiarity with research methods in the sciences, and experience with teaching and/or library instruction are all desirable.
